Meet Le Roux Malan:
The Man Behind the Magic at Vergenoegd Löw

24 July 2025

Meet Le Roux Malan, the heart behind the hospitality at Vergenoegd Löw Wine Estate. As Hotel Operations Manager, he brings passion, precision, and a personal touch to every guest experience — creating moments that linger long after checkout.

There’s a quiet confidence in the way Le Roux Malan, the newly appointed Hotel Operations Manager at Vergenoegd Löw Wine Estate, talks about his role – and it’s not just about managing logistics or ticking boxes. It’s about creating moments. The kind that linger long after a guest has checked out – memories that stay with you, long after you’ve left the estate.

He first joined the estate in November 2024 as Food & Beverage and Events Manager, and just a few months later, in June 2025, he stepped into his new role, overseeing all hospitality operations on the estate.

“Every guest should either return or leave with the desire to do so,” he says. “It’s not just about the physical experience, but the emotional one.”

And with the recent arrival of a dynamic new Estate Chef, the scene is set for Vergenoegd Löw to reach new heights – gastronomically and beyond.

A Day in his Shoes
For Le Roux, no two days are the same, and that’s exactly how he likes it. From rooms division to estate maintenance, food and beverage to events, his days are a lively mix of moving parts. But the common thread? A fierce loyalty to the brand and a drive to elevate every guest experience. “When you love what you do, it transcends the idea of ‘work.’ For me, each day at Vergenoegd Löw is an opportunity to live the dream.”

Hospitality with Heart
Ask him what he loves most about working in hospitality and his answer is simple: pride. Whether it’s a perfectly set table or a once-in-a-lifetime celebration, he sees every gesture as a chance to make something meaningful, and he encourages his team to do the same.

It’s a mindset that truly shone during one of his most memorable moments on the estate: the sold-out Jazz Under the Stars event in March this year. “It brought our entire team together in a collaborative way. The energy, the feedback, it all reminded me of why I do what I do.”

Why Vergenoegd Löw is One-of-a-Kind
With its rich character, warm hospitality, and tranquil atmosphere, Vergenoegd Löw is, in Le Roux’s words, a rare gem – and one that’s perfectly positioned. “Every corner tells a story, every face greets you with a smile. What makes it truly special is the way time is respected and treasured here.”
Ideally located just minutes from Cape Town International Airport, Vergenoegd Löw is the first wine estate on the Stellenbosch Wine Route when travelling from the city. It offers the perfect blend of accessibility and escape – a peaceful haven that’s close to Cape Town, under an hour from Hermanus, and effortlessly connected to the best of the Cape Winelands.

A Family Affair
His love for hospitality isn’t just professional, it’s personal. He recently tied the knot, and as it happens, his wife also works on the estate. “Some might say working together could be challenging, but for us, it’s a blessing. My wife’s passion for Vergenoegd Löw and the industry inspires me daily.”

The two are known to share ideas over dinner – often evaluating restaurants and hotels as if they were running them. It’s a habit that keeps their shared passion sharp, even outside working hours.

Words to Live By
When asked what inspires him most in his work, he doesn’t hesitate: “Hearing a guest say, ‘We will see you again.’ That’s the ultimate compliment, and the goal we all strive for.”

And for those looking to follow in his footsteps in the world of hospitality and events?
“Support your team. Don’t settle for mediocrity. In the beginning, skills speak louder than theory. Show up, be present, and always deliver at a premium standard.”

Looking Ahead
Whether it’s curating unforgettable events, fine-tuning operations, or simply sharing a smile with a guest, Le Roux Malan is a key part of what makes Vergenoegd Löw so exceptional. With his passion and dedication, the estate’s future looks bright.
